This project involved a Meylan Minute Repeater Pocket Watch from about 1885. The watch came in for a complete service which turned into a complete restoration. Note the large 18k hunter gold case and elaborate movement. The interesting aspect of this project is that there are two main sections of the repeater; the basic movement and the repeater mechanism which share a cannon pinion mounted with four snail racks. The pawl of the repeater sits on one of the 15 teeth which translates to your minute count. A rack of 12 teeth counts the hours; the rack of three teeth counts the quarters. Almost primitive yet genius that this device was engineered over 200 years ago.
